RESIDENTS can share their thoughts on crime and community safety issues in Logan through a council-run annual survey.
The deadline for the crime and safety survey has been extended and is set to close on November 12.
Council will use the survey results to determine whether the city is meeting the objectives in its Safety City Strategy and Action Plan for 2016-2020.
The plan, launched in May last year, followed consultation between police, the community, organisations and government agencies.
The plan focused on building stronger relationships within communities, designing public places with crime prevention principles in mind and developing partnerships between individuals, groups, organisations and government agencies.
The survey is being carried out annually until 2020 as part of the implementation of the plan.
Mayor Luke Smith said it was important for council to hear how residents felt and for them to feel safe in their community.
“Community input plays a big role in helping council develop effective safety and crime prevention strategies,” he said.
“Logan is a great place to live and work and we take great pride in hearing from our community on a number of matters, including safety.”
The Coffee with a Councillor and Coppa initiative was introduced in Logan suburbs after last year’s survey.
The meetings provide an opportunity for community members to meet a council and a police officer for a chat over a free coffee.
As part of their safety initiatives, council ran activities in Yarrabilba in June, held three Community Week of Action initiatives with police and helped to bring the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to Logan on two days this month.
Anyone who completes the survey can enter into a draw to win one of three $100 gift cards.
