Access Community Services is ready for this year’s Walk Together Logan.
The walk is set to be a loud demonstration of the city’s unity and vision of a shared, inclusive future for all Australians who are from all walks of life.
Walk Together is a national event that is initiated by the Welcome to Australia movement.
Each year, thousands of Australians gather in cities and towns throughout the country to walk together in solidarity of newly arrived refugees and migrants.
It also presents a means where communities can say welcome to their newest arrivals.
Access CEO Gail Ker OAM said she was proud to announce that this year, Walk Together Logan would begin with a citizenship ceremony at The Access Gateway.
We are thrilled to be hosting the ceremony for what is a tremendous milestone in every naturalised Australian’s life.

“This is the very community building that was officially opened a year ago at the Walk Together event,” she said.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the ceremony for what is a tremendous milestone in every naturalised Australian’s life.
“This year’s theme ‘For Freedom to Belong, Freedom to be Yourself and Freedom to Hope,’ is an ethos we at Access embrace fully in our efforts to create an inclusive society, wherein equal opportunities are available for all members of our community.”
Ms Ker said the celebration after the walk would feature live music, food and entertainment, and was open to the entire community.
“Registrations for the walk will take place from 10am to 11am and the first 100 participants to register will receive a free lunch at the post-walk celebration,” she said.
“Walkers are invited to dress in traditional attire and are encouraged to keep hydrated and take precautions against the sun.
“Come join Access for the walk that celebrates our diversity and belonging in Logan City.
“It is a proclamation showing that whatever the roads we have travelled to get here, we are all equal when we do.”
The walk will begin from Logan City Tenpin,18 Wembley Rd, Logan Central, at 11am on October 21.
A free celebration at The Access Gateway, 91 Wembley Street, Logan Central, will be held after the walk from 11.30am to 1pm.
