Greenbank dam
I READ your article (JT, Aug. 30) that said 92 per cent of people who completed an online survey with you wanted the dam on the Mirvac development site on the corner of Greenbank Road and Teviot Road saved.
However, Mirvac have decided not to keep the locally iconic dam and to instead remove it. The dam that provides a continual water supply for the native wildlife that calls that area home. An essential water source for the animals that has never run dry. A dam that has been in existence and a part of the local history and landscape for generations.
If 92 per cent of the people are pleading for it to be retained why isn't it being kept?
The state government is the body governing the development of this area. Readers, please contact your state government representative Linus Power and your Logan councillors and ask them to represent you and to take measures to ensure the dam stays.
Wetlands that are to be made available may not ensure a continual water supply for the wildlife. The wildlife in this area will have other dangers to contend with such as increased traffic, dogs and loss of habitat. Don't take away their water supply as well. Keep an area that is safe and make it accessible for them.
Why not keep it and use it as an environmental asset, an area of beauty much loved by the local residents? I am sure it would be loved by the future residents as well. Balance is what is needed with development. All developments. Development should co-exist with the local area; both residents and wildlife. It should enhance an area not destroy it.

Speed camera at Jimboomba
WHAT they need is more visible patrol cars/bikes etc out on the road. Hiding cameras in the exit of a school zone doesn’t slow people down; only raises revenue.

IMAGINE how outraged everyone would be if a kid was hit.

ALL these people saying it’s revenue raising, how about you think about it … don't speed … don't get a fine … don't raise revenue for them … simple.

HIGHWAY CRASH
AS a resident whose house backs onto the highway … there are more accidents than reported; it’s becoming a joke now. The amount of traffic these days; things are becoming far too dangerous and, no, a set of lights isn't the answer on a highway.
