You never know what you will find at a local market.

Will it be a one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery, a handmade gourmet spread that gives your meal that something special, or a piece of home decor that finishes off a room?

You can find all this and more at Yarrabilba’s regular markets – the Sunrise Markets on the first and third Sunday of the month and the twilight Mingle Markets on the second Friday of the month.

“The standout feature is the location; adjacent to the market is an oval, all ages water park and adventure playground with gym and bushland walking tracks,” market founding director, Jane Dear, said.

“It makes for a nice day or evening out with the family.”

Both markets are wheelchair and dog-friendly and have dedicated free parking and entertainment.

This advertising feature is sponsored by the following business:

Each boast a variety of more than 40 stalls with everything from fresh, tantalising hot food to stuffed toys, make your own candles, tie-dye T-shirts, eyebrow threading, steins, jams, revamped vintage furniture and super fresh, locally grown produce from Chambers Flat.

Seeing Yarrabilba as a young and vibrant community, Mrs Dear began the events as a way to bring together the community, as well as producers, for a family-friendly event. Within the past 10 months, she has seen the markets steadily grow.

“The Mingle Markets is the night time market focusing on entertainment and international foods and craft; the Sunrise Markets is a celebration of local produce, craft and multicultural entertainment,” Mrs Dear said.

“We work to being a little theatre to each and every market day for our customers and stall holders.”

At every event, there are children’s attractions as well as regular musical line-ups to add to the atmosphere. The idea is to not only pick up an item or two but stop and relax, Mrs Dear said.

“It’s a creative space where you can grab a blanket or chair and relax in the sunshine or shade,” she said.
