Jimboomba Bushrangers Cricket Club are ready to take to the pitch next weekend in their first games of the season.
The club will field five junior sides in the Logan District Junior Cricket Competition as well as one mens senior side in the opens competition.
The teams will play against sides such as Beaudesert, Kuraby, Greenbank, East Logan and John Paul College.
More than 65 children are registered with the club which president Phil Hayes said was on par with last year’s figures.
“We’ve got a lot of returning players this year which is great to see,” he said.
Hayes said there were five south-east Queensland representative players among the division two team.

“Our teams are based on ability rather than age,” he said.
“There are recommendations of age groups but we just work it on the individual.
“We find that it is a better system this way to teach and retain players.
“We’ve got a good mix of young blokes here, some who have been brought up from those younger age ranges to play up with our more experienced guys.”
The division two team, for children under 15, have been training each week over the past five weeks to be match ready.
Hayes said the boys were looking to build on their successes having won two premierships in the junior competition.
“We’ve really been working hard on batting and bowling and all the basic skills,” he said.
“We really want to encourage participation and widen the scope of each player to effectively play the game.
“We value the basics here, not getting out early, bowling straight, those types of skills.
“I’m happy to say I think that our teams can do well this year.
“It is shaping up to be a great season.”
Hayes said the Bushrangers were working with a community focus once again this season and were supporting the McGrath Foundation with a future pink stumps day and also getting out and raising funds on McHappy Day.
Head to Everdell Park, Gleneagle, on October 7 from 8am to catch the Bushrangers division two game against the Beaudesert side.
