Three-time Olympian and former AIS walker Chris Erickson has retired, calling time on a 20-year career which delivered three national champion titles.
Erickson, the son of former Australian walker Tim Erickson, announced his retirement on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old based himself in Canberra for most of his career and worked with coach Brent Vallance to compete at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.
He represented Australia at 15 major meets between 2006-16, including two Commonwealth Games, four world championships and five race-walking World Cups.
Erickson won bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in 2006 and was a top-10 finisher at the Rio Olympics last year.
"I walk [away] from my career extremely proud of what I achieved, the highlight being three Olympics and coming away with 10th and a PB in Rio," Erickson said.
"I am extremely grateful of all the support I had throughout my career, especially my time at the Australian Institute of Sport under the guidance of Brent Vallance, who I can't speak highly enough of."
