Jimboomba Athletics athletes achieved great success at the annual Little Athletics Spring Carnival in Bundaberg last weekend.
Athletes were competing against some of the best track and field eventers in the state and winning over 25 medals.
Twelve Jimboomba athletes aged from eight to 17 made the trek north and took part in all types of events from sprints, walks and hurdles track races to high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, discus and javelin.
The event is one of the major association competitions held during the athletics season and attracts entries from interstate as well as from throughout Queensland.
Gold medalists from Jimboomba Little Athletics Included included Mark Wood (15 year boys 100m/200m sprint double) Ben Roberts, Chloe Schmidt and Samantha Schmidt (javelin) Jack Addley (shot put and javelin), Camryn Newton-Smith (open 100m, long jump, high jump and javelin).
Other medallists included Nathanial Lovaszi, Shae Roberts, Casey Roberts, Izac Addley and Connor Addley with Zachary Schmidt also throwing well in javelin.
Jimboomba Little Athletics has one more week of pre-season practice before the club’s official competition season gets underway on October the 6.
The club’s Tiny Tots program for three and four-year-olds to start getting involved in athletics officially kicks off this Friday.
