The AIS pool will turn into a battle ground when each state sends their best junior swimmers to compete in what is being called "swimming's State of Origin" this weekend.
The country's most promising juniors, aged 13 to 17, travelled to compete at the state swimming championships.
Ginninderra swimming club dup Abbey Webb and Kayla Hardy will compete for NSW team and hope they can make an impact despite Canberra not having its own team..
"I feel like down in the ACT a lot of people don't think too big of us but I believe that we have a good team this year and we have a good chance of winning," Webb said.
Webb and Hardy's coach, Jim Fowlie, says the NSW team has hit the jackpot picking up the two ACT swimmers and believes they can get the job done in the pool for their adopted state.
"Both girls have great discipline and are self starters. They are both national medallist in their age and classifications and will be very competitive here," Fowlie said.
The swimmers score points for their states by racing in a combination of individual and relay events over the weekend to decide which state takes the cake.
