ACT juniors are set to compete against tennis players from across the globe with qualifying for the Canberra Junior International to begin at the Lyneham Tennis Centre on Friday.
Canberra's rising star Annerly Poulos is back to defend her title after winning the under-18 tournament last year, while fellow ACT products Ashleigh Simes and Matina Ujdur will look to negotiate qualifiers and join Poulos in the main draw.
Players from 12 countries will compete for junior ranking points with Australia represented in the boys event by Stefan Storch and Will Hann.
The international contingent will be led by Thailand's Saranpahon Siriwanichkul, Chinese young gun Qian Sun and Ethan Kai Xin Lye from Singapore.
Canberra products Jamieson Nathan and Zac Donaldson will be looking to make an impact in the main draw, while fellow ACT players Jack Tallarida Lyons and Jimmy Fu will commence their campaigns in qualifying.
Papua New Guinea talent Patricia Apisah will lead the girl's event, while New Zealand's Oleksandra Kalachova is the second seed and Zara Brankovic is the top ranked Australian.
