Greenbank’s Mollie O’Callaghan, 13, has brought home six gold medals in various lengths of backstroke and freestyle from the Tasmanian Short Course Championship.
She also managed a bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Mollie was joined by her sister Sophie, 15, and Waterworx club mates 11-year-old Kaia Sugars, of New Beith, and 17-year-old Alexandra McClelland, of Flagstone, who all competed in the two day event at Hobart Aquatic Centre.
Sophie was awarded gold in the 15-years 100m backstroke, as well as two silvers and two bronze medals.
Kaia swam her way to two silver medals in the 50m butterfly and backstroke and a bronze in the 100m individual medley.
Alexandra won bronze in the women's 200m butterfly.
Each of the girls swam up to ten races in the championship event in early September.
Mollie and Sophie’s mother Toni O’Callaghan said all four girls swam exceptionally at the event.
“There was a great mix of competition for the girls,” she said.
“It wasn’t just a white wash for us down there which made it worthwhile.
“Our girls made personal best times and were very happy with how they performed.”
Ms O’Callaghan said the girls all train together at Waterworx and despite Kaia being in the juniors the girls took her under their wings.
“My two girls are very competitive when they race each other,” she said.
“But it was great to have everyone there together.
“My girls have been working so hard after this Tasmanian swim.
“Mollie is just really in the zone at the moment.”
The O’Callaghan sisters said they had both enjoyed the Tasmanian trip and were both working hard back at training with the squad.
Each athlete trains twice per day, with up to six sessions per week.
This includes both in pool and gym work sessions.
All four girls will now prepare for the Brisbane Open Water swim at Lake Kawana.
Sophie and Alexandra will compete in the 5km race, while Mollie and Kaia take part in the 2.5km race.
Sophie said she was looking forward to the open water event as she felt prepared.
