Thank you to our local volunteers
Congratulations to the recipients of the 2017 Wright Community Contribution Awards.
It was my pleasure to present this year’s recipients with their awards and thank them for their hard work and dedication to our community in a special ceremony recently.
These awards allow a grateful community to recognise the local volunteers who deserve appreciation for their outstanding contribution to the community.
Our volunteers make an incredible difference in the lives of locals, and while they don’t do it for accolades they most certainly deserve them.
Our volunteers bring so much to the local community, their skills, advice, experience, friendship, vision, leadership and inspiration. But they give their time.
Life is short but these unsung heroes of our community generously volunteer their time to the various community and sporting organisations that make our local community such a wonderful place to live.
We may attempt to count their time in numbers or cash value but we would all be poorer for not recognising the priceless contribution our volunteers make to our community.
Local Sporting Champions recognised
Congratulations to our local recipients of Round One of this year’s Local Sporting Champions grants program. It was my pleasure to present our sporting stars with their awards recently.
I hope with this grant, our young sportsmen and sportswomen will continue hopping, skipping and jumping to pursue their sporting dreams.
Congratulations to Jasmine Barry who received her award for football, Jacob Cutler for jujitsu, Chelsea Gatti for equestrian, Sebastian Millard for rugby union, Camryn Newton-Smith for athletics, Molly and Sophie O’Callaghan for swimming, Hugh Pfitzner for tennis and Sam Windsor for athletics.
You are an inspiration to other local sporting champions and a shining example of the calibre of sporting talent in our region.
