Although beaten in the grand final on the weekend the Park Ridge Pirates’ under 16s can hold their heads high for the successful season they recorded.
Final scores in the were Park Ridge 5-10-40 to Narangba 14-14-98. Best for Pirates were Riley Greene, Nathan Colenso, Dylan Shoemaker and Hayden Forbes.
Club president Andy Colenso said the boys were just not at their best on the day but did not stop trying to the end.
“As a club we would like to thank Timmy Pearson, Chris Fletcher and April Thompson plus all the parents involved with the under 16s on a fabulous year,” he said.
“We have potentially eight or nine kids in that side which could play regular senior footy at our club in the future or even at a higher level.
“We had all our youth teams qualify for finals this year which was another great achievement for the club and we were runners up in the Brisbane Juniors Club of the Year.
“So all in all it has been a great year for the club and we look forward to even better things in 2018.”
