Bought to you by local theatre creative Jemina Macedo, The Black Opal is a glamourous theatre spectacular being staged at Heritage Wines, corner Shelf and Bartle roads, Mount Tamborine on October 13, 14, 20 and 21.
The show is Macedo’s own refreshing Australian adaptation of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, 12th Night.
She is the renowned director of past Tamborine Mountain sell out productions The Secret Garden and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
In The Black Opal, Shakespeare collides with Art Deco Aussie decadence and features an original jazz music and cast of 14.
The cast ranges in ages of 16 to 78 years, including local performers John St Clair and Gordon Issom and vocalist Rebecca Loyd.
"We have so much incredible creative talent up here on the mountain and surrounding areas and I am very excited to be putting on a third production,” Ms Macedo said.
“This cast and crew are bringing the script alive and I have no doubt that audiences will be highly entertained.”
The show is full of Aussie lingo, larger than life characters and is laced with Australian history, spectacle, humour, drama and intrigue.
A two-course dinner is included as part of the show and cocktails are available at the bar.
Tickets for the dinner and show are $95.
Patrons are invited to dress in 1930s style.
