Two men have been killed in a crash at a racing track in Ipswich.
It is believed a car left the track and crashed into a wall about 8.40pm at the Queensland Raceway course in Willowbank on Saturday night.
Queensland Ambulance Service medical director Dr Stephen Rashford said the car caught fire and the two occupants were trapped inside during what he described as "an absolute tragedy".
Despite the best efforts of track rescue teams and emergency services, who managed to free the two victims from the wreckage, the 32-year-old driver and his 41-year-old passenger died at the scene.
It is understood the crash happened during a Roll Racing event at Queensland Raceway, not the Race Ya Mate event at nearby Willowbank Raceway as reported by other publications.
In a separate incident, a young woman has died in Brisbane City during the early hours of Sunday morning after being hit by a bus.
It is believed the 23-year-old victim was crossing the intersection of Upper Roma and Saul Street about 3.45am when she was hit.
Bystanders and emergency services tried to help the victim, but she was also declared dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, two men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries, after a car hit steel bollards on a bend in Redbank.
The crash happened just after 1.30am on Sunday at the intersection of Clare Avenue and Law Street South.
The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a stable condition.
Three male passengers, aged 25, 27 and 46, were taken to the Princess Alexandra and Ipswich Hospitals, two of them with serious injuries.
Police were appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating all three incidents.
