THE inaugural Gears and Grease auto show at Hills International College last month raised over $5000 for the local branch of the State Emergency Service.
The July 30 fundraiser was an opportunity for car and bike enthusiasts to look over 250 vehicles, while best car, best bike and best truck trophies were up for grabs on the day.
Before the event, committee spokesperson Donna-Marie Jarden told the Times that the group wanted to raise funds for the SES after seeing firsthand the hard work they do in the community, especially during times of flood.
“We know our community love car shows and we are giving them the opportunity to support the SES who gave a huge helping hand during the flood,” she said.
Gold coin entry from spectators made up a significant proportion of donated funds.
The organising committee presented the Jimboomba SES with $5026.85 on August 2.
“It was such a great community effort,” committee member Bob Wiley said.
“Massive thanks to all who contributed.”
