LOGAN Artworkers Networking Events is hosting a special session at the Logan Art Gallery on August 12 dubbed ‘Creative Seniors’.
From 2pm to 4pm, participants will be able to listen to speakers from U3A and the Logan Artist Association about their opportunity for creativity. Senior artist Joan Macnaught will also share how she developed her idea into an exhibition – Recollections from my childhood – currently on show at the gallery.
In her exhibition, the Bethania artist is presenting a series of pen, ink and watercolour works and a series of pastels that depict nostalgic scenes from her childhood growing up in rural Queensland in the mid-twentieth century.
According to councillor Steve Swenson, the LANE session provided a wonderful opportunity for Logan seniors to find out about the creative programs offered in the region.
“LANE has been developed through feedback from arts practitioners wanting to establish links with each other, to help build a stronger arts community in the city and participate in vibrant local projects,” he said.

“I encourage anyone who is interested to attend Ms Macnaught’s talk.
“The afternoon will also feature a tour of the current exhibitions at the gallery by coordinator Michael Wardell from 3.30pm.”
LANE is held at Logan Art Gallery and explores a variety of themes to develop and nurture creativity in the City of Logan so the community benefits socially and economically from the arts.
Bookings for the August 12 session are essential and can be made by phoning 3412 5519 or by emailing artgallery@logan.qld.gov.au.
The Auslan interpretation of both sessions has been assisted by the federal government through the Department of Communication and the Arts’ Catalyst - Australian Arts and Culture Fund.
