VEGETATION clearing has commenced at the site of a $1.6 million road works project on Abell Road at Jimboomba, anticipated to improve the safety and condition of the road.
According to Logan City Council, the works will involve reconstructing and resurfacing the road pavement, widening the road pavement on the northern side of the road to incorporate two travel lanes and sealed road shoulders, and installing road drainage infrastructure.
The project is being funded from council’s 2017-18 capital roadworks and drainage program.
Project details
Works started during the week of July 24, 2017 and are expected to be completed in November 2017, weather and construction conditions permitting.
According to council, construction will generally occur between 7.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday. Due to the nature of the project, some works may be required outside of these times.
While council and its contractor will make every effort to minimise disruption to the community and motorists during these works, some localised construction impacts may be experienced, including changed reduced speed limits and the operation of a one-way traffic system adjacent to the work zone to accommodate vehicle movements from Carrum Road to Camp Cable Road (see map below right).
Access to the western end of Abell Road will be provided via Stockleigh Road and Carrum Road. Site representatives will be available to assist motorists during construction working hours as required.
Affected residents will be notified of restrictions in advance to allow alternative arrangements to be made.
There will be temporary interruptions to telecommunications and power supply services at times during service relocation works.
Council has advised motorists to plan their journey and allow extra travel time.
