JOSHUA Thorburn will spend three months behind bars over charges relating to the alleged murder of Logan schoolgirl Tiahleigh Palmer.
Thorburn was charged with one count of perverting the course of justice and perjury during an 11-month police investigation that led to his father Rick Thorburn, 56, being charged with Tiahleigh's murder.
On Thursday, the 21-year-old was sentenced to 15 months for one count of perjury and nine months for one count of perverting the court of justice. The sentences are to be served concurrently and will be suspended after three months for a period of three years.
The court heard he had provided false information relating to Tiahleigh's disappearance and death to police on two occasions during November 2015 and again at a Crime and Corruption Commission hearing seven months later in June 2016.
Mr Thorburn's defence lawyer Jeff Hunter QC told the court his client "wishes that he did the right thing immediately" and was "remorseful".
He had been granted bail last year after he pleaded guilty to the charges in Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
Police allege Tiahleigh's foster father Rick Thorburn, 56, murdered Tiahleigh at their home in attempt to cover up his son Trent Thorburn's alleged sexual involvement with the 12-year-old.
Trent Thorburn was charged with incest, perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice and was refused bail in the Supreme Court in December.
Tiahleigh's foster mother Julene Thorburn, 54, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court to one count each of perjury and attempting to pervert the course of justice last year and was released on bail.
Murder-accused Rick Thorburn claims he dropped Tiahleigh off at Marsden State High School on Monday October 30, 2015.
A missing-person alert was issued by police six days later, hours before the girl's decomposing body was found on the banks of the Pimpama River by fishermen.
