TAILGATING is the most annoying driver habit in Queensland, according to an RACQ survey.
RACQ spokesperson Lauren Ritchie said following too closely was the top pet peeve cited by members asked to rate annoying driver habits.
“We’re taught to leave at least two seconds between vehicles not just out of courtesy but because travelling too close increases the risk of crashing if the car in front stops suddenly,” she said.
Other annoying behaviours highlighted in the survey were motorists who failed to indicate correctly, increased speed while being overtaken and mobile use behind the wheel.
“Some of the behaviours on this list may appear to be minor traffic infringements but anything that increases frustrations can escalate the risk of crashes on the roads,” Ms Ritchie said.
