The Jimboomba United (JUFC) under 13s hosted the Southside Eagles at Kurrajong Park for their first match back from the holiday break, and dished out an 8-nil drubbing to Southside.
Jay Moseley opened the scoring and finished with five goals, with two going to Caleb Redway and one to Jaxon Schloss.
The game never looked in doubt as the team started their run home, trying to achieve a semi-final berth from the six teams left in contention.
The whole team played their roles to get the win, despite finding it frustrating trying to use their team passing game and support running style of play against an opposition playing very bunched for the whole game.
However, the superior ball skills from the JUFC midfield and pace up front meant the Jimboomba team could penetrate through and finish their scoring chances.
In the second half the team was switched to unfamiliar positions in an effort to give the players a feel for how their counterparts deal with the different skills required for each position, and an opportunity arose to give Owen Atkinson, the Jimboomba keeper, a run out of goals.
This week’s best and fairest went to Jack Williams (1), Owen Atkinson (2), Jaxon Schloss (3).
