Parklands Christian College have officially opened their new $5.1 million sports centre.
The Baskerville Sports Centre was named in honour of founding principal David Baskerville.
Mr Baskerville unveiled the plaque, on July 11, in front of Parklands students and community members.
He was pleased with the progress of the centre and was looking forward to the grandstands being installed.
“We have a marvelous resource in this building for many generations at Parklands and the wider Logan community,”
“It was not built for the short term it was built for the long term.
“In my final year as principal at Parklands I planned specific parts of infrastructure to be named in memory of significant founders.
“However before I brought that to fruition the board has honoured me by placing my name on the centre.”
Principal Johannes Solymosi said the centre had been in planning for four years and was already being useful to the college community.
“We’ve had other schools come for interschool sports and we’ve held plenty of teacher versus student games in here,” he said.

Mr Solymosi said Mr Baskerville was an integral part of the college and was still involved in the running of the school board.
“This is a really big investment and he put a lot of planning into our school,” he said.
The state and federal government contributed $430,000 each toward the development of the centre, with the school committing another $4.24 million.
Member for Forde Bert van Manen and Member for Logan Linus Power were both in attendance at the ceremony.
The college is in the tendering process for their new hospitality block which is estimated at $3.5 million.
