Jimboomba Fire Station is opening the doors to welcome new members with two introductory evenings in July.
The station is a joint service station, with both auxiliary and rural capacities, however they only have 23 members registered to volunteer.
Acting Captain Gail Steppens said the service were looking for rural fire service volunteers who could potentially be up skilled to auxiliary firefighters which are a paid part time position.
“We are actively seeking like minded community focused persons who seek new skills that can help protect, educate and provide a safer and resilient community in which to live,” she said.
“Rural firies deal with all types of incidents from bush and grass fires, assisting with road traffic crashes and structure fires, and even assisting with natural disasters like floods and cyclone recovery.
“How far you wish to go is up to you, as little or the lot, training and uniform will be provided to equip you to safely achieve your potential.
“There are plenty of jobs to be done within the service and you can chose what aspects you wish to be involved in.”
To join the fire service you must be 16 years of age.
Acting Captain Steppens said there were plenty of skills to learn by becoming involved in the fire service.
“The training which is provided can open up courses such as first aid and licensing such as chainsaw and trucks,” she said.
Information sessions will be conducted at Jimboomba Fire and Emergency Station, Johanna Street, Jimboomba, on July 18 and 25 at 7pm.
