On Friday night the Park Ridge Pirates under 16s defeated Redcliffe in an away game at Redcliffe.
On a very damp track the Pirates started off slow and struggled to get their running game out of first gear. After the quarter-time break and a good talk with the players, the Pirates got the match back on track.
Following half-time, Park Ridge kicked their attacking game up a notch, eventually running out 20-point winners. The win puts the team a game-and-a-half on top of the ladder.
Best players included Fred Ashdown, Nathan Colenso, Brandan Holamotu, Hayden Forbes and Mitch Thompson.
Reserves
The Park Ridge Pirates senior reserves made the trek down the road to face their close rivals the Beenleigh Buffaloes on the weekend. After playing good footy in patches recently, the Pirates jumped out of the blocks to take a four-goal lead at quarter time.
The team lost some of their structure in the final three quarters and the match ended in a draw.
