Jimboomba Thunder scored a 54 to 16 against Logan City Hawks on Saturday which sees them top of the table mid season.
The forwards dug deep with an early injury giving opportunity for Kylie Lewis to step up and lead the pack around the park.
Kylie was strong in defence and her runs made the opposition work hard to contain her. Kylie was awarded the Razor Hair Designs team player of the game.
Katherine Whitehead hard a huge game regularly breaking the line and dominating the opposition forward pack. Katherine’s efforts were rewarded with two tries coming from determined runs close to the try line scoring two tries and kicking one goal for the game.
The back line again was able to shine off the strong efforts of the forward pack. Both Nikki Dempsey and Zoey Holland scoring two tried each running at will through the opposition.
Desree Fogarty partnered well with Shania Paulson applying pressure in defence and attack. Janet Mitchell and Cheyann Beard marshalled the team organising set plays and taking advantage of opportunities to put girls through gaps for runaway tries.
Under 14s
Under 14s went down to 3rd place Coomera 24-20 in a tight contest. Coomera came out hard and led at half-time 20-6. Thunder found their mojo in the second half and led by Man of The Match halfback Jayden Barnes dragged back the lead to trail 24-20 at full-time. Stand out performers were Campbell Gray, Players Player Zac Cross and lock Paddy Desmond.
Under 13 Div 3
The Under 13 Division 3 team worked hard against a strong Ormeau side on Saturday but went down 20-10. Taj Denaro and Samuel Lowe scored a try each and Mitchell Savage made one conversion.
Under Div 13 Div 1
The Under 13 Division 1 team struggled to find their form this weekend and lost to Helensvale 30-10. The boys fought back in the last few minutes of the game when Timmy Sielaff-Burns and Dylan Bradshaw scored tries and Kobe Fox made a conversion.
