I want to thank all those in the community who have pushed for the Mt Lindesay Highway improvements. It is a tribute to the tenacity of the local community to stand up for what this community deserves and I’m 100 per cent on their side.
Since being elected almost two years ago as the Member for Logan, I have worked hard with the community to see a greater investment in the highway. In the last three budgets there has been $85 million in new safety and four-lane duplication funding. That is more than ten times as much as the Newman-Nicholls government. But there is still so much more to do.
The most recent announcements from the budget were $20 million for four-lane duplication of a section of the highway in Park Ridge South. This will mean that traffic exiting at Granger Road or Stoney Camp Road won’t have to merge into one lane before exiting again down the road. This is on top of the already announced $20 million for a service road to run all the way from Chambers Flat Road to opposite Greenbank Road and a major upgrade to the Greenbank Road intersection. We will also announce an upgrade to the North Street intersection that will reduce congestion on top of the already announced funding for the Waterford Mt Tamborine Road south of Anzac Avenue.
We've put the Mt Lindesay back on the government's agenda but there is so much more to do.
I’ll continue to fight for more. For more service roads to reduce dangerous driveways and intersections, for more safety funding, for upgrading to intersections, and for more four-lane duplication.
Again thank you to the many individuals and community groups who advocated with me. It will save lives and time and we need to continue.
