A HOST of well-known and emerging performers took to the stage at Logan Village Hotel on the afternoon of June 4 for Flood Aid.
The concert had a simple vision: to raise as much money as possible for the flood-affected communities of the region.
The Times arrived to watch Route 33 rocking the crowd on a brilliant winter afternoon. The Queensland country music duo Trent McArdie and Jock Barnes released their debut album The Switch in February this year and had plenty of local kids up and dancing at Logan Village.
Other headline acts included local performer Ruby Jo, who recently appeared on The Voice, sharing the line-up with country singer James Blundell and iconic Australian musician John Williamson.
Supergroup The Flood Aid Rock Legends saw Buzz Bidstrup (The Angels, Gangajang), Mark Evans (AC/DC), Kevin Borich (The Party Boys) and Tyrone Noonan (George) together for a one-off performance at the fundraiser.
In March, rainfall in the wake of ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie caused the Logan and Albert Rivers to rise, bringing the highest flood levels the region has experienced in four decades, damaging multiple homes and businesses and disrupting many lives.
Logan City Division 4 councillor Laurie Koranski and state member for Logan Linus Power will chair the distribution of funds through various charities to help families directly affected by the floods as well as the emergency service organisations.
“It was awesome to see so many people turning out to tonight's event, not only RFS, SES and the mud army, but the community members,” Cr Koranski said.
“I really think tonight is about lifting spirits and bringing our community together.”
