The Scenic Rim Writers group is searching for more contributions to add to their latest body of work.
Despite already having a series of tales for this year’s book, The Word on the Street, group member Di Morris said they wanted more people to get involved in the project.
“It is open to all ages and all types of genres,” she said
“Contributors can submit fictional and non-fictional stories on streets, roads and places within the region.
“People who have often thought to express themselves by writing but never got round to it would benefit from joining our friendly and active group.”
Ms Morris said she urged children, school students and Scenic Rim residents to submit short stories for the publication.
“Please don’t be shy, we would love to have as many people contribute entries and if anyone needs help with things like grammar, we are always here to help,” she said.
Ms Morris said local authors have written stories for The Word on the Street about Palen Creek, Beaudesert streets and Harrisville’s filmmaker Charles Chauvel.
“It’s been a wonderful project so far, one member is writing about a prisoner of war who had to work on a farm at Harrisville,” she said.
“Another person is writing a humorous biographical account of the streets where they have lived in Beaudesert.”
Ms Morris said writing about local people, places and experiences is a great way of connecting the community.
