Flagstone State Community College student Caleb Harrison is reaching out to the community to help him get away on the student exchange of a lifetime.
The year 12 student has a penchant for the Japanese culture and has been lucky enough to be accepted for an AIIU student exchange.
Caleb is set to travel to the Hyogo Prefecture – near Osaka, Japan – in August, where he will live and study like a Japanese student for 10 months.
But he needs a little bit of help to pay for his living expenses on the adventure of a lifetime.
The 16-year-old’s year 12 mates have rallied together to help him by organising a staff carwash and Caleb’s mum Leeanne has appealed to the public by creating a gofundme page.
Caleb said he would be just so grateful for any donation that anyone could give.
“Travelling to Japan will just be such a cool and huge opportunity for me,” he said.
“Despite receiving a partial scholarship we are still looking at about $8000, which we just don’t have.
“I feel like I will be able to inspire so many more kids at school by taking part in the and showing that there are big things out there if you just try.”
Year 12 coordinator Steven Miles said Caleb’s trip had given the year 12 students a common goal for the year.
“They realise that a little bit of help from a whole lot of people will help Caleb get to his goal trip,” he said.
Help Caleb out here.
