Four primary school students from the Emmaus College Equestrian team have worked together – through individual events – in order to win two champion awards at the SEQ Regional Interschool equestrian competition.
The primary team gained enough points across the various events to be crowned Primary SEQ Regional Champion school and the Primary Showhorse Champion Team.
Emmaus College’s Equestrian team also includes five high school students.
They were awarded Secondary Showhorse Reserve Champion Team.
The interschool competition was held in Beaudesert during early May and is used as a qualifying event for the June state championships.
Seventy schools competed in jumping, show horse, showman, dressage and combined training
Team convenor Maria Gould said it was an awesome weekend with all the riders doing exceptionally well in what were huge classes.
“These primary students are little people who are just so dedicated to the riding, lessons and classes,” she said.
“All of our riders deserve our hearty congratulations as they have all worked incredibly hard with their horses and ponies to be able to achieve these results.”
Ms Gould said the students are all in a great qualifying positions for the state champions which will take place in June at Toowoomba.
PRIMARY INDIVIDUAL AWARDS:
Year 1 student Eshli Denysenko was third overall in the Primary Showhorse.
Year 4 student Mitchell Cooper was the Primary Showhorse Reserve Champion and came fourth in the Primary 3phase Showman.
Year 5 student Taylah Noy was the Primary Show Hunter Reserve Champion.
Year 6 student Makayla Deece came fourth overall in her Primary Showjumping and was the Primary Champion 80cm Combined Training.
SECONDARY INDIVIDUAL AWARDS:
Year 7 student Ayshia Noy was the Secondary Showhorse Champion and came ninth overall in the Secondary Show Hunter class.
Year 7 student Lexie Armstrong came seventh overall in the Secondary Show Hunter class and sixth in the overall in Secondary 3phase Showman.
Year 7 student Claire Ryan came overall third in Intermediate Preliminary Dressage in a huge class of 22, tenth in her Secondary Combined Training and was the Secondary Champion 4phase Showman.
Year 9 student Emma Gould came sixth overall in Intermediate Novice Dressage and ninth overall in Elementary Dressage.
Year 10 student Jordie-lee Young came seventh and 14th in Secondary Showhorse.
