Under 13s
This week the under 13 girls played at their part time home ground Woodcrest College, coming away with a massive win .
They put in a dominant team effort to come away with a 72-4 win.
The team is starting to understand the game of Aussie Rules by helping each other out and starting to look for team mates to kick to who are in space. The team welcomed Tejinder for her first game.
Congratulations to MacKenzie Starkey for kicking her first goal and Phoebe Pottinger for scoring her first point.
Best players Kayla Whittaker before getting injured, Grace Parkinson kicking six goals and Ashleigh Hodges for being the team player that she always is.
Under 15s
The Redbacks under 15s girls lost to Yeronga 43-61.
The loss soured a day that started with the girls receiving a much appreciated team hoodie sponsored by the Vidoni family business SMS Metal services.
The Jimboomba Redbacks were outplayed by a hungrier Yeronga who showed the team that nothing but their best will be good enough to get to where they want to be.
To the girls credit after half-time they came out and played better, but was nowhere near the team we’ve seen for the last few weeks.
Leveling the scores five minutes into the last quarter gave their supporters some hope but Yeronga kept up the pressure and kicked away to put the game beyond reach towards the end of the quarter.
On a positive, Phoebe Balmforth played a great comeback from injury game, and tried her best to lift the team when they were down, running hard from the midfield and half forward line.
Josii Hargreaves put in another consistent performance with her relentless and tireless run all over the ground and Larni Milne running in from half forward to boot two much needed goals.
Goals were kicked by Phoebe, Alyssa, with one each and Jes and Larni with two each.
The Redbacks will look to get back on track next week against a much improved Aspley side without their four representative players who will be in Maroochydore playing in the state championship, Phoebe and Marni Balmforth, Aliesha Alford and Chloe Ackland.
Under 9s
Jimboomba under 9 red team played Calamvale at Springfield this week on a steamy ground after rain the day before.
Redbacks put up a great effort in the first three quarters only to be outplayed by Calamvale in the final quarter.
Special shout out to player of the match Zane Porter and most improved Kaden Griffiths
However there were some fine performances especially Zane Porter for his inside work and Cayden Hume for his improved efforts and marking.
Joseph Vidoni and Cooper Motum worked hard all day while Cameron Starkey was resolute in defence.
Jessie Smith also improved significantly as he learns the game.
Elliot Wise was named captain after an excellent week at training.
