The Redbacks under 15 girls played a tough match against the Park Ridge Pirates on Sunday, winning 56-7.
In a game that was closer than the scoreboard indicated, the Redbacks slowly kicked away to win a hard-fought match.
Jimboomba lost two players early in the game who were having a big impact, but the team covered for them well, running hard all game and really testing their fitness levels.
The side wishes Georgia Payne and Lana Van Heerden a speedy recovery. Standouts for the Redbacks were Paris Slater dominating the game in the ruck, and Aliesha Alford running hard off the half back line and tackling well. The midfielders were consistent and solid again, but all of the girls played fantasticly as a team, stuck to the plan and kept focused on the game.
Goals were kicked by, Chloe Ackland (3), Marni Balmforth (2), Larni Milne and Steff Pottinger one each. The support the team gets from all the parents, families and sponsors has been overwhelming, and the team thanks Thunderbox Tool Boxes and Courtesy Handyman Services for the sponsorship of their new sports bags.
Under 13s
This week the girls travelled to Richlands to play against top of the table team Forest Lake, going down 56-2. Coach Darren Webb said the girls played well in patches, but it is a game played in quarters and the girls need to be consistent for all four quarters.
Pocket rocket Ila Streeter played her first game for the club. Best players were Ila Streeter, Phoebe Pottinger, and Kayla Whittaker.
Under 12s
Jimboomba under 12s ripped into the first quarter of their match on Sunday, maintaining possession and showcasing their skills and hanging tough against Beenleigh.
The score settled at 14-39 against, in what was a stressful game. Mason Marshall took a serious hit but bravely pushed on after a stretcher was called to the field but was not needed, and Owen Maguire also battled through some rough contests. Cooper Manning and Cameron Day scored goals but overall the players provided a satisfying match for onlookers. Update from last week: Sebastian has been benched for the remainder of the season, suffering a broken collarbone and torn ligaments in the left shoulder.
Under 10s
The under 10s celebrated Jarrett Wilson’s 50th game with excellent teamwork against Calamvale. Corban Farrow, Toby Lawson, Kody Cluse-Robinson and Jarrett Wilson showed great marking skills. Goals were scored by Corban Farrow, Lawson Muller, Joseph Vidoni and Jarrett Wilson.
