A MOTHER’S Day-themed fundraiser to assist Jimboomba’s All Breeds Canine Rescue (ABC Rescue) is taking place on Saturday, May 13 between 10am and 3.30pm at Woodhill Hall on the Mount Lindesay Highway.
ABC Rescue’s fundraising officer Stella Ware said the ‘Happiness and Hippiness Fair’ is an event the organisation plans to run annually.
“The fair is held the Saturday before Mother’s Day every year and the stalls are a selection of things that will appeal to mum.
“We have some wonderful stallholders that join us at these events, selling great products or offering their services for healings or readings.
“They are just part of the reason everybody has such a wonderful day at these events.”
According to Ms Ware, proceeds from the event will go directly to ABC Rescue to assist in covering the organisation’s significant veterinary costs.
“We have just had a canine that we treated and he has survived parvovirus, but it meant a $4000 vet bill, which is on top of our everyday vet bills for desexing and vaccinating, worming and flea and tick prevention.
“We have a fantastic group of followers and supporters, and people are generally willing to put their hand in their pocket to help out, but to raise these kinds of amounts it takes a little bit more than the generosity of the public.”
Ms Ware said the Happiness and Hippiness Fair is a way for ABC Rescue to raise significant funds and to get people involved.
“They can come along to our event and talk to us, pat some of our canines in care and maybe put their name down to become a volunteer foster carer or volunteer to help us with transport of canines.
“Everybody can do something, it is a huge help for people to just go around to their family and friends and to collect their old sheets and towels for us to use.”
