THOUSANDS of people gathered before the sun rose at the Greenbank RSL’s southern car park for its dawn service.
As the catafalque party army stood guard, Greenbank RSL’s Len Kingston-Kerr gave a stirring speech about the sacrifices made in war.

Singer Amy Michaels serenaded the dignitaries and others with her rendition of hymm abide by me.
Wreath laying and a remembrance ceremony led by Greenbank RSL president Gary Aldridge followed.
The ceremony was finished by a benediction given by Father Peter Moore and the national anthems of Australia and New Zealand.
