Oozing world charm Colonial Village is one of the much loved icons of Jimboomba.
While now a hub for business and trade, the centre had humble beginnings born from an idea to recreate a scene from years gone by.
When Bill Haggard, who happened to be in the trade of buying and selling houses for removal, joined Robbie Drew to build the village there was very little of the colonial days lefts except for the original old store which burned down in the 90s.
This gave Robbie an idea. Recreate the Jimboomba of past.
She came up with a plan to move one of the houses, live upstairs and operate a real estate business underneath.
Bill had a better idea. To recreate a colonial village.
Through a lot of thought and planning, Bill designed what it should look like.
They bought the land and started the project where the village sits today.
The hard work started in 1998 and continued through to 2000 when the village was completed.
Totally surrounded by modern day structures The Colonial Village has become a much-loved icon in the town of Jimboomba and one residents love to do business at or take in the atmosphere of.
A great place to visit with many specialty shops all in one convenient place such as a restaurant that is open nights only and a cafe open for trading during the day.
