Park Ridge Pirates under 14’s: 5.3.33 defeated by Redland Sharks: 9.11.65
With ANZAC Day looming and the under 14s not having the chance to play a fixture for some weeks, the Pirates headed out to play a very strong outfit in Redlands on Sunday.
Although the players were a little fresh, they were eager to get out on the paddock to show our fans and the competition why they deserve to be in division 2.
Leading from the front in his first game as captain Patrick Greene had plenty of voice, encouragement and action on the field.
The Pirates kicked an early goal which got the fans excited, however, they could not hold off the run of the opposition.
It remained the same through the first half of footy, despite the under 14s best efforts they left the field at half-time with a lot to think about.
The commencement of the third quarter saw the Pirates up and about, with a stellar performance by everyone on the team, with quick running play they shocked the Sharks to a standstill, booting their way back in the game to be only trailing by a few points.
But it was not to be, as Redlands came out firing in the final period.
The pirates had very strong performances from Tiare Broughton-Ferris, Mackenzie Berg and Kobe Cumming all of whom supported the team through the third quarter onslaught.
There are plenty of positives to come out of the game, in particular the third quarter and a few things that we will work on going forward.
