Under 15s Girls
Jimboomba Redbacks under 15s girls team remains undefeated, notching up another win after defeating Calamvale 26-13.
Leading by just a single point after the first quarter, Jimboomba lost their vice-captain Phoebe Balmforth a few minutes into the second quarter to a dislocated shoulder.
The game was held up for the next two quarters and play resumed in the last quarter.
After an emotion filled last quarter the team rallied together and fought hard to extend the lead and take the victory.
Opening her account on the score board, Olivia Vidoni inspired the team with a great set shot goal from near the boundary line and from there the Jimboomba side did not look back, with goals going to Josii Hargreaves, Aliesha Alford and Larni Milne helping the Redbacks in sealing the win.
The Jimboomba girls were sensational in composing themselves and remain focused after witnessing the horrific injury on their teammate’s shoulder.
Phoebe will be missed from the team for a while as she recovers, as she is a much valued team member.
With a game against Zillmere next week, the girls will look to extend their unbeaten run and push on with a good start to the season.
Under 13s Girls
Grace Parkinson kicked a goal after the siren to lead the under 13 girls to a 38-32 win over Coorparoo.
The team was short on numbers this week but not in heart.
Even though the Redbacks had to borrow three girls from Coorparoo to boost our numbers, it had little effect on their win as the Jimboomba girls had the most effective possessions.
Among the best players for Jimboomba were Dakota Ivansevic, Ashleigh Hodges and Teagan Dare, with solid performances from Summer Balmforth in the ruck and Mariska Dawes also making a difference.
Coaches praised an excellent team effort to get the win.
The under 13s next game is a girls double header at home on Sunday 30 April with the 13's at 9am and the 15s at 10.30am.
Under 12s Boys
Stellar performances by under 12s Quinn Hanna and Jordy Porter this week in a 88-18 loss to Moggill Mustangs at Toowong.
Goal scorers for the Redbacks were Jarryd Coleman and Owen Maguire.
Sebastian van Heerden worked hard all day in the centre and Luke Brisbane was solid in defence blocking a number of goals.
The next game for the under 12s boys is an away game against North Lakes at St Benedicts Catholic Primary School on Sunday April 30 at 9am.
