On Saturday March 25 the Jimboomba Thunder Open Women’s side competed in a trial match against Normanby Hounds women's team.
The game was played in trying conditions with both teams struggling with the heat and humidity.
Thunder women’s coach Greg Carson was encouraged by the team’s consistent effort throughout the match.
Carson was particularly impressed with the efforts of Kayla Brown, Valasi Alumua and Katelin Thompson-Mason who were all playing their first game of Rugby League.
The strong ball running and devastating defence from the newcomers to the team was inspirational to the rest of the side, with Aumua also scoring a try on debut.
Tries were scored by Aumua and Bronte Glenwright with goals kicked from the boots of Kelly Jones and Emmalyn Donnelly.
Final score Jimboomba Thunder 24 to Normanby Hounds 14.
