THE region’s historic buildings and places-of-interest can now be visited by tourists with ease thanks to a Greenbank to Veresdale trail brochure released by Logan City Council.
Up to 25 sites found along the Mount Lindesay Highway and its connecting roads are included in the guide.
The path begins at the Greenbank RSL and finishes as Veresdale’s Australian South Sea Islander Wayfinder sculpture.
Councillor Steve Swenson, who is chairperson of the sport and community services committee, said the brochure highlighted the region’s wealth of history.
“This trail features schools, sculptures, historical sites and buildings, parks, rail lines and even a Hindu temple,” he said.
“We want to encourage people to create their own highlights tour by gathering some friends, packing the car and setting off to explore.
“Some people will want to see a few, some will want to see them all.”
Jimboomba’s 19th century Dorrington House at Johanna Street is featured as is the Sri Selva Vinayakar, with Mundoolun Road’s Memorial Church of St John the Evangelist on the guide’s cover.
The Public Art and Heritage trail Greenbank to Veresdale brochure, which was launched earlier this month, is the second in a series of five trail guides planned by council. It followed the release of a brochure which highlighted sites from Logan Village to Beenleigh.
The brochures were funded as part of the Regional Arts Development Fund.
Copies are available from the Council’s Customer Service Centres and libraries.
