A petition to connect the service road near Olley’s Orange Country Market at North Maclean is circulating the region.
Member for Logan Linus Power said connecting the existing service road to St Aldwyn Road would make travel to the north safer.
He added many drivers were currently cutting through a vacant block of land to avoid turning right, which was a short term option causing potholes.
“As it stands, drivers have to cut across high-speed traffic to travel north on the highway and, frankly, it can be dangerous,” he said.
“As soon as we get enough signatures, I will present this petition to Parliament in a bid to make this turn safer for the people of Logan.”
Mr Power confirmed more than 500 residents have already signed the petition and further urged others to do their bit, signing to connect the service road.
The petition can be accessed and signed at Olley’s Orange Country Market, Country and Weston Bakery, Christoffel Country Meats, Maclean Country Pharmacy and the Buckhams General Produce store.
