Good leadership and inspiring others through service and discipline were the central themes at the Woodhill State School badge presentation ceremony last week.
School captains Thomas Croucher, Shakayla-Jai Thorley, Morgan Hargreaves and Aiden Loomans were presented with certificates and badges in front of staff, students, parents and special guests.
House captains for Stinson Paige Briggs, Holly Becht and Bryden Wallace were also inducted along with O’Reilly captains Ashleigh Storrs and Jack Addley.
Year six teacher Shanice Drummond said the students undertook an extensive process to be selected.
“They were interviewed, gave a speech to teachers and fellow pupils and had to seek out a reference from another teacher within the school,” she said.
“The students selected showed great confidence, responsibility and an eagerness to help out around the school.
“No they will run parade, help pout with sport days and our Anzac ceremony as well as being playground leaders.”
Logan City Councillor Trevina Schwarz and Woodhill adopt-a-cop Constable Peter Koplick spoke to the students about what makes a good leader and how every student, not just those with badges, can show leadership both at school and at home.
