Women from across Logan Country will have the chance to celebrate International Women’s Day in Yarrabilba on March 10.
The free morning tea event, hosted by Division 4 councillor Laurie Koranski, will have the theme ‘be bold, be strong’ and feature guest speakers 2011 International Volunteer of the Year Ada Banks and Logan Women’s Health and Wellbeing Centre leader Stacey Ross.
It will run from 9 to 11am at St Clare’s Primary School in Combs St.
Cr Koranski said the event was open to any local ladies plus any men who wished to show their appreciation and respect for women.
“I am keen to showcase, celebrate and empower Logan’s women,” she said.
“It is important to me that local ladies feel welcome, cared for and valued by our community.”
Ms Banks said for her, the theme is about empowering yourself to go out and deliver your message.
“You need to stay strong and focus on your beliefs with the end in mind,” she said.
Ms Ross said having the opportunity to celebrate women meant a great deal to her as she wanted to empower them to get involved and connected in their community.
