Five Jimboomba State School students have been selected to form part of the Beaudesert Zone rugby league team.
Cooper Lewis, Jacob Evile, Aiden Maguire, Jose Ito and Harry Callender were chosen to represent in the 11-years team.
The 12-man team was chosen from a collective of thirteen schools across the Jimboomba and Beaudesert regions after a recent selection round.
The footballers will compete together, on February 23, with individual selection on the line for the Pacific District team.
If successful in selection, the Pacific District team, will then take on the challenge of the South Coast trials.
Halfback Cooper Lewis said the Beaudesert team trials were tough.
“Everyone was just really trying their best,” he said.
After their training run last week, the boys agreed they would play together well.
Fullback Aiden Maguire said they worked through their tackling and passing as well as setting up the play and getting up quickly.
Five-eighth Jacob Evile said the boys in the 11-years team played together and against each other with their respective clubs.
“It’s good (knowing the other players) because at least you know everyone’s name,” he said.
“Trials will be difficult though, because everyone is trying to get into the same team.”
Forward Harry Callender said they will all try their best at the next trials.
“It’s our first time at this level and we are excited to play,” he said.
The boys agreed the collective team strength was using their knowledge of each other’s playing style to bring the team together.
The Beaudesert Zone team will compete on February 23 at Ormeau.
