LAST year’s XFactor runner up gave the Scenic Rim a small taste of what is to come in 2017 by performing one of his new songs on local radio.
Logan Village resident Davey Woder performed his song ‘Fly Away’ live at BeauFM on Wednesday.
The singer also revealed he planned to release his first album titled, ‘Life’ very soon.
He said his upcoming album was personal to him and listeners would be able to relate to the lyrics.
“People can expect music straight from the heart,” he said.
“I’m proud of it, it’s coming along really well.”
“Everyone kept telling me ‘Davey, just play covers’ and I said nah, I’m all about taking a risk.”
Mr Woder took years writing the songs and spent the past month working in a studio every day to complete the album.
He said his fans could expect more new songs and more performances within south-east Queensland.
With a new band behind him and the full support from his family, Ms Woder said he would never give up on music and promised to use local influences in his songwriting.
“When you’re writing a song and you hit that right note or you get that right line, it sends an emotion through your body and it’s beautiful,” he said.
“Then when you create a new song and share it you get this wonderful feeling, it’s an amazing thing.”
Mr Woder said his time on XFactor taught him many skills and was happy to have had the experience.
The down-to-earth singer said he was grateful to have met Guy Sebastian – who was his mentor throughout the season.
“He believed in me, he saw something in me that no one else did,” he said.
“He fought a lot of people to keep me in.”
Mr Woder said he did not expect to have made it past the first round and auditioned to face his fears and perform in front of a big audience.
“I was shocked,” he said.
“All I wanted to do was go there, sing the song I wrote for Nikki (my wife) and come home, that’s all I wanted to do.”
Mr Woder said he wanted to share his music on the show and was not interested in the fame or glory that came with it.
“I’ve always wanted to do something with my music,” he said.
“It’s my dream, it’s my passion and with my wife’s support...I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Mr Woder will perform at Logan Entertainment Centre on February 24.
