A MAN has been taken to hospital after his car collided with a truck near Boonah on Monday morning.
A 74-year-old Jimboomba man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious condition with leg fractures.
The incident occurred just before 7am on Boonah Fassifern Road at Templin.
Police closed the road for more than three hours and diverted traffic to Kalbar and Hoya.
Boonah Police said the driver of the car appeared to have crossed over to the wrong side of the road and hit the truck’s trailer.
“The driver (in the truck) was a lucky man,” a police spokesman said.
“He was unharmed and did a great job to minimise the impact of the crash when he saw it coming.”
The spokesman said the truck veered off the road in an attempt to avoid the crash and came close to falling off the edge of the embankment.
“If he was maybe a metre further, who knows what could have happened.”
Investigations are continuing.
