The Local Ahmadiyya Muslim community celebrated everything they love about Australia with a ceremony and barbecue dinner at the Baitul Masroor Mosque on Australia Day.
The Australia Day event at the Stockleigh mosque – whose outside was draped in Australian flags – began with the Australian and Queensland flags being raised as Ahmadi children recited the national anthem.
Joining numerous members from the local area were religious leaders from other faiths, as well community leaders from as far away as Moreton Bay and the Sunshine Coast.
Among the invited official guests were Logan City Councillors Phil Pidgeon, Laurie Koranski and deputy mayor Cherie Daley, as well as Queensland Senator Claire Moore and state member for Logan Linus Power MP, and Mr I. H. Kausar, the national president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Australia.
The underlying theme of each of the Ahmadi speakers including Mr Kausar and Stockleigh based Imam Ahmad Nadeem, was the fact their faith teaches them they must love and be loyal to Australia, but each of the speakers touched on their own personal reasons as to why their love for Australia was so strong outside of the requirement of their faith.
Each of the Ahmadi speakers also made a point to remind those in attendance of their mantra of “love for all, hatred for none”.
The invited guests all spoke of the love and respect they had for the local Ahmadiyya community and all that they have given back to the community of Logan, from blood drives with the Red Cross to taking part in Clean-Up Australia Day and other volunteer efforts.
A cheque for $3000 was also presented by the Ahmadiyya community to the state president of St Vincent De Paul, money raised through a charity cricket match.
