More than $1.3 million worth in grants are now available to charities focusing on improving the health, wellbeing and sustainability of rural and regional Australians.
Applications are now open for the Aussie Farmers Foundation’s 2017 Grassroots Grant Round – funding provided to assist the projects and programs delivered by eligible charities.
Not-for-profit community groups and organisations focusing the economic wellbeing of farms and farming families are eligible to apply, along with charities focusing on disaster relief for farming communities; kids health and healthy eating, including provenance awareness; food waste and food security; and mental health for farming communities.
Aussie Farmers Foundation Executive Director Julia Hunter said the grants are designed to support “charitable organisations who have expertise on the ground in local communities”.
“We invest in life-changing projects with the support of the community as funds are raised thanks to the generosity of Aussie Farmers Direct customers – who donate as part of their orders – as well as individuals, community groups and businesses donating and fundraising across Australia,” she said.
To apply for the 2017 Grassroots Grant Round, charities need to complete and submit the official Expression of Interest (EOI) application form, which will continue to be accepted until February 28.
