January is the beginning of a new year, and with this can come a wish to renew thoughts previously researched, or to come up with something totally new.
At the museum we have been asked to look into Anzacs who are not connected to the Logan Village Area.
This we will do, or assist those looking for information to do this for themselves.
We feel that this is a community service which we can offer.
With this in mind we now have a genealogy group, which meets on the second and 4th Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm.
These times enable us to utilise the wifi available with the computers at the Logan Village Library.
This is basically a self help group.
We at Logan Village Museum give advice and areas which can be explored, and the participants do their own research.
This is the best way to learn, by not having it all done for you.
You may make mistakes but that is all a part of learning.
When the weather cools a little we will be updating the Logan Village Cemetery.
This has been an ongoing project since the 150 year celebrations in 2013.
We are also updating our information on Camp Cable World War II army base, which is now the suburb of Yarrabilba.
As more information comes online through the National Library, we are putting together quite a story on the area.
We now know that the base actually extended from Plunkett Road down to where the roundabout is on Waterford Tamborine Road, along Quinsey Creek Road to Steel Road.
This is helping to put a lot of history back into the Logan Village area.
Until next month, come and have a look through your museum, which is open seven days a week from 9am to noon. Cost is a gold coin donation.
The history column is a montly column in Jimboomba Times and can also be found in the community section of the Times’ website.
