The young athletes achieved personal bests, with Sam sailing over 3.35 metres and Fletcher clearing 2.70 metres.
The duo were very pleased with their results at the championships and are said to be full of confidence going forward.
Athlete Felila Kia also won gold in the under 14 discus event, with an impressive throw of 38.91 metres.
She confirmed her strong throwing ability with a bronze medal in the under 14 girls’ javelin event, where Felila threw a personal best of 41.54 metres. Talosaga Kia also placed just outside the medals, in fourth position, in the under 16 girls discus and will be gunning for a medal at her next competition.
Hills International College student Maddison Aitkin, 14, achieved a personal best of 2.75 metres in the under 16 girls’ pole vault. She was competing against girls a year older than her and will have the opportunity to vault in the same age group next year. Maddison is sure to be one to watch in the event going forward.
Jimboomba Little Athletics members also competed at the Sunshine Coast at the Caloundra annual track and field carnival, where they won medals and achieved a number of personal bests.
At the weekend ahead, up to 60 athletes will represent Jimboomba at the Little Athletics Queensland State Relay Championships at the Queensland Athletics Centre in Nathan.
The athletes will then take a well earned break for four weeks over the Christmas and new year period.
Furthermore, Jimboomba Little Athletics athlete Motootua Kia recently competed at the Australian primary schools track and field championships in Sydney and won the gold medal.
He was crowned the national champion in the 10 years boys’ discus. Kia was also runner-up in the shot put.
