From what started as a conversation between a few friends has turned into a huge success.
Hundreds of feet pattered into the 2016 Logan Social Enterprise Expo today, which saw more than 90 stall holders showcase their business specialty.
Last year, only 57 booths were on display – kick-starting the exhibition’s first event.
Logan Social Enterprise Expo co-founder Tony Sharp said the aim of the occasion was to bring the business community together – to connect and network with one another – as well as highlight the importance of social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations throughout the Logan area.
“In the last 12 months, we've run four workshops that have really focused on the idea behind, and DNA in, social enterprises; as well as the make up of a social enterprise; the structure of a social enterprise; and the best ways to market them,” he said.
“The event just really backs what we've been looking at in these workshops, because the methods we have are truly the way forward.
“We focus on how to get young people employed and how we can create more employment paths.”
Mr Sharp hoped to see the Logan Social Enterprise Expo – which featured 13 industry guest speakers this year – grow by another 50 percent by 2017.
“We’re really driving in-house conversation at each event, and enjoy talking about the DNA, experiences and growth patterns of social enterprises,” he said.
“They’re a very important part of our community, so I would like to see the expo continue to grow and hopefully next year we will have at least 150 stall holders.”
