After another successful weekend of competition Jimboomba Little Athletics members returned home with more than 70 medals from the annual Algester carnival held at Col Bennett Park.
The medal haul included 37 gold, 27 silver and 19 bronze medals. More than 35 athletes were called to the podium throughout the carnival.
Gold medals were won by Laura Kenny, Kelsie Willoughby, Erin Gallagher, Tiarnah Isua, Gemma King, Camryn Newton-Smith, Jesica Draper, Abby Howden and Lara Howden.
Gold medallists for the boys were Preston Pereira, Nathanial Lovaszi, Caleb Butler, Jack Schultz, Cooper Rennie, Lachlan Tate, Ryan Hanser, Zygmin Irving and Benjamin Roberts.
The club’s silver medallists included Nikita Collins, Charlie Schultz, Justin Sarah, Harry Schultz, Liam Clarke, Alexander Hefferan and Jack Addley.
Bronze medalists were Ashleigh Maiuri, Chelsea Olsen, Josii Hargreaves, Eloise Butler, Alex Hamilton, Orlando Pharaoh, Jackson King and Connor Addley.
Participation medals were presented to athletes in the under six age group competing in their first carnival.
These included Madelaine and Annaliese Bow-Lynch, Alice Olsen and Joshua Britton.
Jimboomba Little Athletics held a successful “Bring a Grandparent” evening at its last regular Friday competition with many visitors getting involved with the running of events.
A further 15 club records were broken on the night, bringing the total number of records broken do far this season to over 50.
The club is now preparing teams for the regional relay championships which are being held at the ANZ Stadium, Nathan on November 12.
